Headshot of Barney

Barney Desmazery

As the longest-serving member of Good Food, Barney Desmazery has written and tested thousands of recipes, worked with practically every major British celebrity chef and made countless videos, as well as hosting live events and creating much of Good Food’s sourdough content for masterclasses and webinars. Barney began his cooking career alongside Jamie Oliver at Westminster Kingsway College, before going on to work in top restaurants in London, France and Australia. After swapping restaurant kitchens for test kitchens, he worked making food content for a big magazine’s publishers before joining Good Food. Drawing on decades of experience, Barney specialises in the more hands-on sides of food, with expertise in bread baking, foraging, seasonal ingredients and open-fire cooking. He writes the popular Ultimate series, in which he takes some of the nation’s favourite recipes and works out how to make them even better, which you can also find videos of on YouTube . He is also responsible for bringing Good Food to life at our live events, where you’ll find him hosting interview stages and demonstrating recipes. Barney is also the author of One Dish Four Ways, his first cookbook.
